Company Profile: Organized as the National Soybean Processors Association (NSPA) in 1930, it was renamed August 1, 1989, as the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA). NOPA now represents oilseed crushers of canola, flaxseed, safflower, soybeans and sunflower. NOPA represents fourteen regular member firms engaged in the actual processing of oilseeds, and ten associate member firms who are consumers of vegetable oil or oilseed meal, including some refiners and mixed feed manufacturers. Through its various committees, the Association cooperates with the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, State and Commerce, as well as other independent and private organizations, both national and international, concerned with oilseed products.

Company Profile: Dr. Henry T. Nguyen directs the Molecular Genetics and Soybean Genomics Laboratory at the University of Missouri. Research in Dr. Nguyen's lab focuses on soybean improvement through increasing yield and the analysis of value-added seed composition traits. Both abiotic and biotic stresses, such as soybean cyst nematode resistance, drought tolerance, and flooding tolerance, are studied. Discovery of the underlying mechanisms involved in these processes, will lead to higher yield for soybean farmers in the field. By analyzing soybean components such as metabolites and proteins, the functional ingredients of the soybean seed can be improved leading to both human and animal health benefits.
